Working closely with the producers of the limited podcast series entitled, ’15 World Famous Minutes’, we were honoured to work on an episode covering the incredible talents of global athlete, Milkha Singh. Born in 1935 with the sobriquet The Flying Sikh, Milka was a former Indian track and field sprinter. His career in track sports started in the Indian Army. As of 2013, he remains the only Indian male athlete to win an individual athletics gold medal at a Commonwealth Games.
Milka represented India in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, in recognition of his sporting achievements. A Hindi movie entitled Bhag Milka Bhag based on his life story was a very popular film released during 2013.
Discipline, hard work, will power….My experience made me so hard that I wasn’t even scared of death.” But one story reflects his desire clearest.
We suggest you listen out for the structure and key elements of this podcast, essentially how the story develops, referral to citations, use of sound, for example ambience and sound effects (check out the time when Milka was in the army or when there is a reference to train travel). All of these items are identified when the script of a show/episode is put together. These aspects are examples of what keeps your listener both engaged and wanting to come back for more quality content.
We’d love the opportunity to develop your podcasts with such story techniques. Feel free to reach out to learn how we can help you with your next podcast (new or ongoing).
